The Botany Department was established in 1999. Undergraduate courses are offered under the general stream, with Botany as a special subject in the third year. The department supports four teachers, three of whom have Ph.D. The staff members are actively engaged in research and extension activities. Many research papers have been published in UGC-listed & peer-reviewed National and International journals. The mission of department is to make students innovative practices. The department has a well-equipped laboratory and an established Botanical garden. The Department maintains a well-planned, two-and-a-half-acre botanical garden. In the botanical garden, planted plants on the college campus include Gymnosperms, Angiosperms, Pteridophytes, Bryophytes, Aquatic plants, and Medicinal and Horticultural plants. The department's staff is highly trained, has varied well in research, and is dedicated to their subject, providing a conducive environment for all the students. The atmosphere of the department is always student-centric and healthy. The department is enthusiastic about educating the students through various curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
Two laboratories in the department are exclusively for undergrad students. All the laboratories are well equipped with modern instruments purchased through grants provided by the Education Society and Savitribai Phule Pune University for development and research projects.
The department has a separate Herbarium in which old dried plant specimens (235) required for identification purposes are maintained. The botanical garden is well maintained with ex-situ conservation of some rare, endangered and medicinal plants collected from the Western Ghats. Such plants are multiplied and planted at different places in collaboration with the forest department and taken care of by the department as an extension activity.
The department is enriched with learning resources such as charts, museum specimens, slides, PowerPoint presentations, models, a herbarium, and modern facilities like computers and the Internet, which help the students in independent learning. The department has a library consisting of 102(UG), (text and reference books), and 03 research journals that are subscribed to by the staff. Recently, the department organised an International Conference on 12-14 June 2021. Nearly 250 abstracts were received for the Conference. Full-length papers received for the conference are published in Bulletin of Environment, Pharmacology and Life Sciences (an international peer-reviewed journal). The department of Botany has successfully organised four university-level workshops.

Extension Activities.
- Botanical Garden: The college maintains a spacious area of 12.5 acres decorated with lawns and greenery. Situated north of the college building, the 2.5-acre Botanical Garden is particularly planned. It hosts a variety of plant species, including rare, medicinal, Pteridophytic, Gymnospermic, Angiospermic and ornamental plants, enhancing the campus aesthetics. The garden is divided into four sectors, each dedicated to different botanical interests.
- Green Army: The Department has initiated the Green Army, aimed at conserving the campus flora and nurturing plantlets for future tree plantation initiatives.
- Study Tours and Field Visits: The Department regularly arranges botanical excursion tours and field visits to various locations. These activities are designed to foster students interest in and commitment to the conservation and protection of flora and fauna.
- Distribution of Medicinal Plant Saplings: The Regional Cum Facilitation Centre-Western Region, the National Medicinal Plant Board under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, along with the Department of Botany at Savitribai Phule Pune University and collaborated with our college's Department of Botany to carry out a small project as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign. As part of this project, our department produced and provided 15,000 medicinal plant saplings to the RCFC Centre. Operating from the Botanical Garden Nursery, our department focuses on propagating and distributing plantlets, particularly medicinal plant varieties, to students and farmers in the local area.
- Organization of Farmers Meet: Our college is in a rural area, so many of our students come from farming families. To help farmers learn new things, our department organizes different events. These include guest lectures and field trips with experts from Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidhyapit agriculture university in Rahuri and Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Babhaleshwar. We also hold meetings for farmers, where we invite well-known person like Mr. Punjabrav Dak, who knows a lot about predicting the weather. For example, on 6th February, 2023, we had a meeting to share ideas and encourage farmers to use methods that are good for the environment and their farms

The Department of Chemistry was established in 1998 to impart knowledge in chemical sciences at the undergraduate level. It is the DST-FIST Sponsored Department. Keeping abreast with the National Education Policy, the department introduced Postgraduate Analytical Chemistry in 2008. The department boasts four spacious and well-equipped laboratories for conducting Undergraduate and Postgraduate practical courses. Additionally, it has a research laboratory and a separate computer laboratory with free internet access for research and reference.
The department expresses gratitude to the Department of Science and Technology (DST) for providing a grant of Rs. 39 lakh under the FIST programme and to the University Grants Commission (UGC) for providing Rs. 10 lakh to improve the laboratory infrastructure facilities.
Our department's strength is reflected in its research and placement activities. The recognition of the department by Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, as a research centre has motivated staff and students to pursue research work in the emerging fields of chemistry related to coordination chemistry, separation science, material science and organic synthesis methodology. The success of research work in the department can be attributed to the availability of sophisticated instruments like Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) and Ultraviolet-Visible Spectrophotometer. Our faculty has published 142 research papers in national and international journals and 11 books in reputed publications. One major and 11 minor research projects funded by UGC and BCUD, Savitribai Phule Pune University, have been completed. The departmental library has 50 textbooks, 29 reference books, 22 magazines and five theses. The department has 11 functional MoUs to strengthen students' knowledge by conducting various activities.
Out of twelve staff members, three have been awarded Ph. D. degrees and are working as Research Guides, two have been awarded M. Phil. degrees, four are registered for Ph. D. programs, and five have qualified for the National Eligibility Test for Lectureship or equivalent test.
In addition to teaching and research activities, the department makes extra efforts to conduct campus interviews. More than 80% of the students have secured employment in R&D, Q.C., and Q.A. in several pharmaceutical industries, such as Macleods, G.V.K. biosciences, Globe-chemicals, Kinomera Bioscience, Argen Life Sciences, etc.

About the Department:
Department of Chemistry was established in 1998 to impart knowledge in chemical sciences at the undergraduate level. Later on, a graduate course in Analytical chemistry was introduced in 2008. Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, was recognised as a research centre in Chemical Sciences in 2023. The department has four spacious and well-equipped laboratories for UG and PG practical courses. A separate computer laboratory with internet access for academic and research work to staff and students.
Under the FIST program, the Department of Science and Technology (DST) has sanctioned 39.0 lakh grants to strengthen the teaching and research facilities in the chemistry department. The department is well equipped with sophisticated instruments like Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, Double Beam UV-Visible Spectrophotometer and Potentiostat for conducting undergraduate and postgraduate practical courses and also for research activities. As a part of its academic activities, the department had organized seminars, symposia and workshops.
The research work carried out by faculty is in the areas of coordination chemistry, synthesis of fine chemicals, green chemistry and separation sciences. The research outcomes are published in reputed journals. 142 research papers have been published by our faculty in national and international journals and 11 books published in repute publication. One major and 11 minor research projects funded by UGC and BCUD, Savitribai Phule Pune University have been completed. The strength of our department is reflected by research and placement activity.
One of our staff members was awarded a Teacher Fellowship under the faculty development programme as per the XII plan guideline by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi. Two faculty members qualified for the NET, and one qualified for the SET examination.

The Department of Chemistry was established in 1998 to impart knowledge in chemical sciences at the undergraduate level. It is the DST-FIST Sponsored Department. Keeping abreast with the National Education Policy, the department introduced Postgraduate Analytical Chemistry in 2008. The second division of M.Sc. Analytical Chemistry was introduced in the academic year 2022-23. Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, recently approved the Recognized Research Centre in Chemistry for 2023-24.The department boasts four spacious and well-equipped laboratories for conducting Undergraduate and Postgraduate practical courses. Additionally, it has a research laboratory and a separate computer laboratory with free internet access for research and reference.
The department expresses gratitude to the Department of Science and Technology (DST) for providing a grant of Rs. 39 lakh under the FIST programme and to the University Grants Commission (UGC) for providing Rs. 10 lakh to improve the laboratory infrastructure facilities. Our department's strength is reflected in its research and placement activities. The recognition of the department by Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, as a research centre has motivated staff and students to pursue research work in the emerging fields of chemistry related to coordination chemistry, separation science, material science and organic synthesis methodology. The success of research work in the department can be attributed to the availability of sophisticated instruments like Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) and Ultraviolet-Visible Spectrophotometer. Our faculty has published 142 research papers in national and international journals and 11 books in reputed publications. One major and 11 minor research projects funded by UGC and BCUD, Savitribai Phule Pune University, have been completed. The departmental library has 50 textbooks, 29 reference books, 22 magazines and five theses. The department has 11 functional MoUs to strengthen students' knowledge by conducting various activities.
Out of twelve staff members, three have been awarded Ph. D. degrees and are working as Research Guides, two have been awarded M. Phil. degrees, four are registered for Ph. D. programs, and five have qualified for the National Eligibility Test for Lectureship or equivalent test. In addition to teaching and research activities, the department makes extra efforts to conduct campus interviews. More than 80% of the students have secured employment in R&D, Q.C., and Q.A. in several pharmaceutical industries, such as Macleods, G.V.K. biosciences, Globe-chemicals, Kinomera Bioscience, Argen Life Sciences, etc.

- The department arranges campus drives and training activities for Graduate and Postgraduate students regularly.

The Department of Physics was established in 1998 with the aim of providing high-quality education in scientific fields to cultivate knowledgeable and culturally diverse scientific resources, thus contributing to national development. Physics is offered as a subject for first-year (F.Y.) and second-year (S.Y.) Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree students. In addition, this department conducts skill-based courses every year.
The department boasts well-equipped and well-furnished laboratories. In addition to the regular teaching-learning process, the faculty conducts Remedial and Bridge Courses for both slow and advanced learners. Furthermore, the department extends its academic activities beyond the classroom through field visits, study tours, and participation in “Solar Energy Awareness and Popularization Programs” in nearby villages. Under the observation of the Physics Department, a 14 kW Grid-Tied PV solar system was installed and maintained at our college.

- One of our former students Mr. Nalkar Gourav Raghunath from the 2018-19 batch completed a Master's degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology from Kolhapur University. After that, he did research work at the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) in Guwahati, India. Now, he's starting an integrated MS/PhD program at Pavia University in Italy.

The Department of Zoology was established in 1999 to spread scientific knowledge in society and produce knowledgeable youth with a scientific temper. The department offers undergraduate Zoology courses for F.Y. and S. Y. B. Sc, level. The course syllabus is as prescribed by Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. Currently, the department has two qualified (Ph.D.) full-time teaching staff working in different areas of research. One of the faculties has completed his Post Doctorate from Spain and is working on several internationally recognised bodies.
In addition to the regular teaching-learning process, the teaching faculty of the department is presently also engaged in quality research amidst various constraints. The department conducts career-oriented courses in Sericulture and Vermicompost Technology to develop the students' self-employment skills and entrepreneurship confidence. The Department also extends the academic activities beyond the classroom in the form of conducting field study, workshops, participating in seminars and symposia and providing the crucial exposure to students. It also provides consultancy services to local farmers, self-help groups and students for the related aspects of Applied zoology. The department has a well-equipped laboratory and Laboratory cum vermi-composting unit and mulberry plantation.
